The #1 Way Dorothy and Toto Can Help You With Lessons Learned in Life - Learn Maintaining Perspective!

Aug 27, 2023

“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” is an iconic line from the classic film T“Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore” is an iconic line from the classic film The Wizard of Oz. Never seen it?

This statement marks the beginning of Dorothy's magical journey to find her way back home after being swept away to the enchanting world of Oz (filled with lions, tigers, and bears oh my).

When she arrives in Oz she meets the bubbly good witch, Glinda, who tells her that all she needs to do to get home is follow the yellow-brick road--driving her down a path of adventure, and hardship. This hardship brings about some lessons learned in life that come in handy in the real world.

Of course, Dorothy didn't necessarily NEED to experience all that craziness from singing scarecrows to flying monkeys. Glinda should have just told her in the beginning that all she needed to do was realize that by relying on her ability to be resourceful and through building up self-assurance, she could do anything and overcome barriers to effective decision making.

But it's movie magic, so I'll let it slide, plus Dorothy's eccentric trip through Oz is such a good example of lessons learned in life that can help you grow in your areas of life!

So, What Lessons Learned In Life Can A Fictional Character Teach Me?

Right now, it kind of feels like we're being chased by flying monkeys and a wicked witch. The pandemic is chasing after us on its broom, but soon enough the rain will melt it away. Times are hard, but it won't be like this forever.

Even so, much like Dorothy, we need to learn to find our way around this unfamiliar new world. This is one of the first lessons learned in life that the heel-tapping girl can teach us: you can persevere even during the hardest times and find joy when life is hard.

Start by taking a second to remember that life won't always be so difficult. You won't have to wake up everyday to a witch trying to take your ruby slippers, it's only a temporary setback. One day we'll be able to take off the masks and hug each other without fear just like before. But when that time comes, you need to be ready.

One lesson I've learned in life is that you can't wait for someone else to make your life better, you've got to take action yourself! Start walking down that yellow brick road, and soon you'll be in control of your future success. If you are a Faith Driven Entrepreneur then this is going to help you a lot.

Sure, there may be a lot of new elements in your life right now—but we're all in this together. Begin by thinking about what you ARE currently in control of. Once you figure that out, you can focus on strengthening those areas of your life.

Once you have your footing, you can move on to new challenges. Much like Dorothy's lesson learned in her life: all it takes is one foot at a time (preferably wearing ruby slippers).

The only way to make change and level up in life is to be proactive. I mean, how often have you looked at an influencer's post or a celebrity in a movie and thought: “I bet I'd look just as good if I tried to follow a workout routine.” Well my friends, then why don't you?

Another lesson learned in life shown by Dorothy's immediate action is that by taking a chance will bring you success. Start small, but dream big. If you want your ideal body, then start taking steps toward it now!

Once you take your first chance by being active, you'll see that the scary witch can be melted away with just a bit of water (in this case perseverance). Perseverance is such a significant lesson learned in life that will help you continue to grow.

Now the next time you come face to face with something scary—you'll know exactly what to do. And by continuing to do it every time, you'll be building up by hacking the habit loop.

The Right Mindset During Time of Uncertainty

Each success habit you develop is like a monkey repellent swatting away the witch's flying monkeys. You CAN do this. You ARE capable. You HAVE everything you need within you. You'll make it through these crazy times because you are strong enough to work through them one step at a time.

Dorothy would have never made it back home to Kansas if she sat down and sulked over her situation. She actively sought out her goal, and because of that success habit she succeeded!

This is probably the most important lesson learned in life that you can take away from good ol' Dorothy: there is no path to success unless you pave it yourself. So take action! The world isn't gonna sit around and wait, and neither should you.

As you build up positive momentum by chasing your own happiness you'll be building success that will be ingrained in your daily routine. Sure, you don't have a pair of ruby slippers or a cowardly lion, but at the end of the day you never needed them in the first place. Our weekly habit tracker app can really help you here!

How To Maintain Perspective in Uncertain Times

It is important to remember that positivity is a choice. By making the decision to focus on the good, we can help to keep our own spirits high, as well as supporting those around us.

Here are some tips for how to maintain a positive perspective in uncertain times:

1. Acknowledge your feelings

It's normal to feel worried or anxious in the face of uncertainty. Acknowledge your feelings and give yourself permission to experience them. Trying to bottle up your emotions will only make them more difficult to deal with.

2. Stay connected

Isolation can breed negative thinking, so make sure to stay connected with your friends and loved ones. Whether you stay in touch via text, social media, or good old-fashioned face-to-face conversation, human connection is crucial for maintaining a positive outlook. You can also try and connect with new people.

3. Seek out positive news

In a world that seems full of bad news, it can be easy to forget the good that is still happening all around us. Make an effort to seek out positive stories and share them with others. This will help to balance your perspective and remind you that hope still exists.

4. Practice gratitude

When we take the time to appreciate the good in our lives, it helps to put our problems into perspective. Make a point of noticing the things you’re grateful for each day, no matter how small they may seem. Start living in gratitude and you will notice a positive impact in your life.

You could even keep a gratitude journal to refer back to on days when you’re struggling to find the silver lining.

5. Help others

One of the best ways to maintain a positive outlook is to focus on helping others. Whether you volunteer your time, donate to a worthy cause, or simply lend a listening ear, acts of kindness will not only make you feel good but will also help to create a more positive world

Positivity is a choice, and it's one that can make all the difference in uncertain times. By following these tips, you can help to keep your own spirits high and brighten the days of those around you.

Why is It Important to Maintain Healthy Perspective?

Maintaining a healthy perspective is crucial for navigating life's challenges effectively. Just like Dorothy's journey in the Wizard of Oz, where she faced unexpected trials, learning to see situations from a proper perspective can lead to self growth.

In both personal and professional realms, a mentor or business advisor can be invaluable. They offer guidance, helping us make sense of situations and manage stress. A balanced perspective helps us avoid unrealistic expectations, allowing us to set achievable goals and approach difficulties with resilience. These are some of the benefits of a balanced life.

By maintaining perspective, we can draw lessons from Dorothy's adventure and apply them to our own lives, ensuring we stay on the path towards success and happiness.

Action Tip of the Week

This week, start by figuring out what your main failure habits are to rebuild your life. This can be anything from procrastinating work to not actively strengthening the bonds in your relationships. Here's what your gonna do next:

Make a list

The best way to remove things from your noggin is to scratch it out with pencil and paper. Start with at least three failure habits.

Next, Pick one Habit.

It can be anything you think you need to work on! For example: if you find yourself on your phone a lot when with family to the point of ignoring them.

Now it's time to take action! Create a plan to start flipping your failures to success. For example: you can limit your phone use in order to strengthen your relationship core
