“It’s our time down here” Don’t recognize that quote? I’ll give you an easier hint: “Goonies never say die!” 

   

The Goonies has got to be one of my favorite movies ever! It’s filled with adventure, danger, and hidden treasures. That was little Will’s biggest dream back in 1985. While I do still love the thrill of it all, what I love about The Goonies now is what it can teach us.

 

 

Haven’t seen it? First off, get as far away from me as possible (kidding, kidding). The movie follows a group of kids who find an old treasure map in the attic of their house—which they are about to lose thanks to a developing company attempting to replace it with a country club.

 

 

The kids follow the map and encounter booby traps and other dangers to find a forgotten pirate ship. They also end up meeting a character named Sloth, who teaches you not to judge a book by its cover. 

 

 

This movie is an absolute classic for lots of reasons—it includes pirates, a cool group of characters, and an unforgettable adventure. But what truly makes it great is that the kids believe in the unbelievable. 

 

 

They chase after a relic in hopes of finding gold and discover impossible wonder, but they never stop believing. 

 

 

They believe that by setting a goal, they can reach it regardless of any hurdles in their path. They know how to develop a growth mindset because they already have. The adults in the film don’t believe anymore, but the kids have the ability to use their mindset to push through to find the truth. 

 

Maybe we all just need to start doing the truffle shuffle, just like Chunk. If we do that, maybe we can begin to understand just how to develop a growth mindset

 

Just like in The Goonies, adults in our world have lost their spark. 

 

Because they’ve grown up, they’ve stopped believing that they can influence the impossible. Kids have that belief naturally. My son, Wyatt, is one of those kids. He’s only a toddler, but he’s definitely not giving in to victim culture. 

 

Though he’s never had to learn how to develop a growth mindset, he’s got it downpat. He goes through his days just living happily. He strives to find joy and sets small goals without even considering it, like not walking on cracks in the sidewalk or playing with a toy. He doesn’t lay around worrying about how or when to do things. He just does them. 

 

 

So, Are You Ready To Learn How To Develop a Growth Mindset?

 

 

It’s hard sometimes as an adult to feel some of that magic you felt when you were a kid. But, just like The Goonies, you can go from being stuck as victims of the universe to having a growth-owner mindset. 

 

 

We go through life trying to fit in with society. Our friends, family, coworkers, and so many others all affect the way we live our lives. But, just like some of us, they’ve lost touch with their growth mindsets. 

 

 

They aren’t trying to keep you in a victim loop, but those mindsets can seep into your own easily when you’ve lost the sparkle you felt as a kid. So, how do you remove that cycle of doubt and disbelief to learn how to develop a growth mindset?

 

 

You can start with some advice from one of the best growth-owners I know: Wyatt. He gets excited with every little accomplishment he has. So, what if someone says: “Don’t touch that toy” or “stay off the sidewalk”

 

 

Seems plausible right? We’ve been denied our wants all the time in life, and we may have even done the denying every here and then (I know I have). I’ve learned that instead of having a negative outlook, I can use it as a tool for learning how to develop a growth mindset. By immediately scolding him for exploring, I’ll make him lose that wonder that is key to his success. 

 

 

Instead of making him feel bad for following an instinct to try new things, I can uplift him. If I don’t want him to go on a certain adventure, I can cut in and negotiate. If I didn’t want him to play with a specific toy for example:

 

 

“Hey buddy, right now it isn’t playtime. We’ll play after dinner.” 

 

By saying this instead of shutting him down, he is assured and unafraid to take new chances. This is imperative when knowing how to develop a growth mindset

 

 

The difference between “absolutely not” and “not right this second” is small, but extremely meaningful. Wyatt can continue to make the impossible possible, just like The Goonies. 

 

 

Sure, I hear what you’re saying—”How does this help me, Will, I’m not a child.” Well, you’ve been told “no” so many times in life that you’ve developed a doubtful mentality. You are capable of knowing how to develop a growth mindset, it’s all up to you. 

 

 

It starts with breaking your fixed-victim mindset, pushing through to be the growth-owner you’ve always wanted to be—just like little Wyatt.

If I’ve imparted anything that’s stuck with you since we first crossed paths, I hope it’s that now you know it’s absolutely vital to your happiness that you continually dedicate yourself to building up your 5 cores. But how do you add gas to the flame that fires up your five cores and blasts you into the big, bold beautiful sky where everything is clear and balanced? 

 

The one word answer: gratitude. When going about your day, it’s easy to forget to take a minute to think about how incredibly grateful you are for all that you have. By doing this, you’ll be building positive momentum that not only contributes to your personal core values, but to your overall health and wellbeing as well. Gratitude changes your whole perspective on life. Instead of letting your inner fixed victim focus on what you don’t have, your inner growth owner starts to focus on what you DO have. And that, my friends, is a beautiful thing! 

 

You heard me right – Thinking about what you’re grateful for every day, even for just a moment, can allow you to break through your fixed-victim mindset to find success. I practice this myself every single day and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Every day I repeat a gratitude mantra and then I recall the top things I’m grateful for in my life, which are usually a result of my personal core values. For example:

 

  • Family. I am beyond happy to have them, and I couldn’t do it without their support. I am grateful for their health as well as my own. 
  • Imagination. It can be so easy to get down on myself sometimes, but I’m so glad I have the ability to see the world through a brighter lens. Creativity is key!
  • My willpower. I was able to pick myself up and find happiness through action. I am grateful every day for my perseverance.

So, How Does Gratitude Apply To Your Personal Core Values

 

 

By practicing gratitude, you’ll be looking at life from a new angle: that of a growth-owner. This means considering things around you as stepping stones to a radiant future, rather than seeing them as weights holding you down. By focusing on seeing life through a more positive lens, you’ll be fueling your personal core values more and more. 

 

This ensures that you get through your day feeling good! Too often people lose momentum in the middle of the day and just feel stuck. Practicing gratitude will give you that extra push you need to feel like you’re still moving forward when you should be. 

 

 

Many people have personal core values that involve family or friends. Well, did you know that being grateful could help you when it comes to compassion? Through that same growth-owner mindset we see people as treasured pieces of our lives rather than nuisances. Further, by showing them how grateful you are for their company, your relationship core can be boosted!

 

 

It also helps when other people get you down. You don’t need to get out there and seek revenge or get into a “why me?” mindset. You’re just grateful you’ve got everything you need and know that the person who made you feel less than is probably in the wrong mindset. Gratitude helps give you the empathy you need to get past these situations without losing your momentum

Don’t believe me? Well, let me tell you what happened to me at the gym. One of my favorite activities I like to do to stay active is basketball. I go to my local gym to play, and the same group of guys is there almost every time. 

 

Now, I get along awesome with these guysall except one. For some reason, every time I go to the gym to play this guy scowls at me as if I’ve killed his dog. At first, I turned inward, wondering what I’d done. 

 

But, one day I went to play, and he looked as if he had been having a tougher day than usual. Despite that, we were on the same team that day and he really pulled through to help us out. I wanted to try to bridge the disconnect between us by sharing my gratitude with him. 

 

So, I went right on up and said, “Thanks for your help on the court today. You are truly the reason we were able to do so well today.” And guess what? He smiled. The man who had seemed like he hated my guts for weeks smiled. All because I showed him that I was grateful for his help. 

 

THIS is how practicing gratitude can enhance your personal core values. By doing it daily, even in small doses, you’ll be building up positive momentum that helps you grow. So, take a moment today to think about what you’re grateful for and shout it from the rooftops!

You know that feeling you get when you have a super important interview or really want to crush a test? Yeah, that’s stress baby. 

 

Fun fact: the word stress didn’t even exist until 1949 when Hans Selye invented the term. People didn’t really understand this widespread affectation at that time, but Selye was about to show the world just what stress was, and how developing success habits can help. 

 

Stress is just a little six-letter word, yet it holds a massive punch. By allowing yourself to build on the foundations of your stress, you’re adding more and more to the fire of negative momentum. But your brain is capable of taking that negativity and transforming it into positive momentum. It all comes down to focusing on your mindset core and success habits

 

And guess what: that starts with you. It’s all part of being a growth owner and taking charge of your happiness instead of succumbing to being a fixed victim and letting the world have it’s way with you.  Let’s start with a success habit to jump start a positive mindset.

 

The Success Habit to Change It All

 

A buddy of mine had a great little success habit for keeping his positive mindset. He had frustrating days just like anyone else, but if anyone asked him how he was, he wouldn’t mention his frustrations.

Nope, instead he said “I feel AWESOME,” as fervently as possible. After doing this for a bit, it actually began to make him feel better! He proactively reduced negativity by ingraining a success habit into his daily routine.

 

Changing Your Fixed-Victim Mindset

 

I know what you’re thinking: “But Will, just because he SAID he was awesome doesn’t mean his day was any better.” Maybe not at first, but don’t underestimate the power of a positive mindset! And even if his day didn’t change, just not letting it bother him actually did change how he perceived it. 

 

Life isn’t always fairthat means that things aren’t always going to go your way. But it’s all about rolling with the punches! Rather than getting down on yourself after a bad day, welcome it as a normal occurrence that will help you learn how to be the best that you can be. 

 

Take a lesson from my pal and start by creating success habits that will help you on your off days to still be the person you’re striving to be. Even if you aren’t having a good day, doing something small that brings you joy will build up your positive momentum.

The world has changed quite a bit since 2019. It can be overwhelming and frustrating to think about. But, instead of getting out of bed thinking “today’s gonna suck,” think “I’m gonna crush this day!” Just like my friend’s mantra of awesomeness, this is a success habit that can boost your momentum up, up, up!

 

This is a mindset I’ve tried to follow my whole life. Back in the day, this was called having some  “moxie.” The Cambridge Dictionary defines “moxie” as a steadfast sense of confidence and determination.

The first step to having a bit of moxie in your life is believing you can do it and never giving up. 

 

To put a little moxie in your day, you’ve got to start building up success habits instead of failure habits. Still struggling? Here’s my top 5 success habits to keep on keeping on:

  • Stay positive. The first way you can bolster your happiness is to increase positive momentum in your life whenever you can. Wake up trying to see the world as a glass half full instead of half empty!
  • Don’t panic. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by bad days, but remember that after the rain comes the rainbow.
  • Be active. You can’t just sit around waiting for your life to get better. This success habit encourages you to go out there and get what you want.
  • Keep moving forward. Sure, you may have a lot of failure habits built up from the past, but this is all about the future. Keep pushing towards your success!
  • Fake it till you make it. I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before, but it’s actually true! If you’re having a bad day just smile on through it and things might just get a little bit brighter.

Should you Wait Until Retirement to 

Build Your Dream Life?

Hint: The Answer is Definitely Not

   

It’s a hard-knock life for us! Most people live really difficult lives, consisting of 8-hour workdays, doing the same routine over and over until the time comes to retire. Sadly, vacations are rare and mostly guilt-ridden, because why would you relax on a beach when you could be working on that pile of paperwork sitting on your desk? It’s grim. Like, thunderstorms-at-the-beach grim. 

 

It’s generally acknowledged that our work will ultimately lead to our happiness, but that happiness only comes after our careers are over. You have to sacrifice time with your family and pour your heart and soul into heartless paperwork until it’s time for retirement. Incorrectly, you’ve been told that the only time you’ll relax is when you’re well into your 60’s. 

 

Does that sound great to you? I gotta tell you, that doesn’t sound very good to me; Will needs his play time, which is why I’ve devoted so much effort into mastering gamification. Fortunately, this isn’t the way things have to be; you can rebuild your life to become everything you’ve always wanted.

 

But I Just Want to Get to My Retirement and Relax

 

Sure. And you’ll enjoy the quiet for about four days. But most people in retirement don’t actually want to become members at country clubs and rock in their chairs when their careers end. For example, singers retire, only to come “out of retirement” to release one more chart-topping single. People who have done 8-hour workdays their whole lives retire, only to start their own business of their dreams. Why is that?

 

I’ll tell you: your natural creativity is just itching to be set free. Beneath your 9-5 workday is a soul scratching at the surface, aching to create. You never really let go of achieving your dreams; hope is a powerful thing, and it’s sparked when you let go of the work that restrains you and you have a chance to rebuild your life. You have a passion to create, inspire, succeed and reach your goals on your own terms, if you have a growth mindset

 

But here’s the thing: You don’t have to wait until boredom drives you to start releasing your inner passion. Luckily, you can start rebuilding your life now and combine your passion with your career so you can succeed on your own terms.

 

Growth-Owner vs. Fixed-Victim Mindset

 

If you’ve read some of my other blogs, you may have heard me talk about people who have a growth-owner mindset vs a fixed-victim mindset. Following that, the growth-owner mindset group feels their passion and let it free. They undoubtedly live their lives following their own dreams instead of fulfilling others’ dreams.

 

However, not all growth owners jump right in; some slowly inch out of their comfort zone, but the point is they are taking the first steps, even if they’re just baby steps.

 

Their risk tolerance is high because they know they would rather jump and fall than never jump at all. And then they discover that combining your career and your passions is, in fact, possible; because the sky is truly the limit when rebuilding your life

Take Shawn and Ian Murphy, for example. They left behind their office jobs to rebuild their lives and follow their dreams, starting by selling ties on the beach. Yes, they sold ties on the beach. They actually carried them in their backpacks and sold all 800 of them. Now they have several locations for their company Vineyard Vines. Talk about growth owners.

 

 How Do I Start Rebuilding My Life?

 

If you truly are passionate about something, it won’t feel like work. So, how do you create habits to become a growth owner

 

  • Cultivate your ideas and passion. Determine what it is that you really want to do. First, start a passion, skill, or problem sheet: What are you passionate about? What are your skills? What problems can they solve? And how can you turn all that into a career? Write it down and get creative!
  • Start small. Don’t quit your job just yet if you don’t feel ready; you can always start your passion as a side job or a hobby. It all starts with just a step. Rebuilding your life cannot be done all at once; it takes time, and as long as you incorporate your strengths and passions and develop a plan, you’ll get exactly where you need to be. Promise.
  • Be smart about it. Next, when you do feel ready to quit your job, make sure you have a well-developed plan to keep yourself afloat. It’s important to keep a balanced life; if you can’t keep the water running, you’re not keeping up with your five cores. If you do have a plan, and you’ve combined your strengths and skills with a solid problem to solve, then you can begin to rebuild and create a life of passion and contentment for yourself!

The opposite of being happy isn’t being sad; it’s being bored. There really is no light at the end of the tunnel labeled “retirement.” But your passion and skills can be combined to rebuild your life now; so don’t wait to start living. Gain momentum and movement through your well-developed goals and plans.  As Ben Franklin most eloquently said, among other wise things, “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.”

 

This Week’s Action Tip:

 

Are your time and effort going to your own dreams or are you sacrificing all your passion to make someone else’s dream come true? If it’s the latter, I guarantee that if you find your passion and your skills, and get started on combining them to create a reality, the rest will come easily. Just remember to always take it one step at a time.  Know that by taking the first step, you’re one step closer to achieving a rebuilt life full of passion and happiness. 

 

This week, I challenge you to take that first step. Beginning with reaching back deep into your mind, soul, and heart to find that one thing that drives you.  Then ask yourself how can you turn that passion into something tangible, something that could become a career for life! Next, write down your passions, skills, and ideas! Make all the combinations! As all growth owners know, the sky’s the limit. You can do anything you set your mind to.

How Would You Define the Ultimate Adrenaline Rush?

   

For an NBA star, it’s making a 3-point shot in the NBA Finals; For a baseball player, it’s a grand slam at the World Series; For a lawyer, it’s winning a big high publicity case; And for a doctor, it’s figuring out a way to cure their patient  against all odds. 

There’s an undercover theme hidden in all of the above examples. You might not think of it this way, but each of these superstars set a goal and subsequently crushed it.  We think of that basketball player as just being really great at shooting hoops or the lawyer as being amazingly persuasive. But so much more goes into it than raw talent or luck. 

The Real Secret Behind Jaw-Dropping Success

A basketball player spends his life working out, running, and practicing. He trains, trains, and then trains some more. That baseball player that just hit a grand slam? He lives, breathes and dreams the game. A doctor goes to college, then med school, followed by a grueling internship before becoming a resident. 

The end result we see as an outsider is their victory. That feel-good moment when they achieve greatness. The moment their team huddles at the World Series in explosive excitement or rushes the court after the NBA Finals. We see the tears of joy, the hugs, and the glory. 

We sit back and we think “Man! That guy has all the luck! What I wouldn’t give to be in his shoes!” But the real underlying story is that it’s not luck. These heroes all have growth owner mindsets and use goals to leverage their success. 

How Do you Set Goals and Achieve Them Like a Pro Who’s Destined to Succeed?

Making sure goals are attainable is important for your mindset and your persistence at reaching your goal.

One method is called setting SMART goals. SMART stands for:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Relevant 

Time-Based

In order to set and achieve goals using the SMART format, ask yourself are they: 

Specific  – This is the who, what, when, where and why of the goal. It’s the nitty gritty. Getting specific sets the foundation for ensuring the goals you set are attainable and measurable. Let’s say you’ve set a physical health goal of getting in shape.  What exactly does that mean to you? Is it when you’re thin? When you’re sporting a 6-pack? When are you in shape? This is one of those goals that, if not specific, could go on for an eternity while you lose just one more pound or firm up one more muscle. 

Measurable – Getting specific with your goal ensures that it’s measurable. Being measurable means having specific metrics in place to track your success. You’ll want milestones that help you see that you’re heading in the right direction. Getting in shape isn’t measurable. Losing 25 lbs or having a 7% body fat index is – but here’s the caveat – you have to have a way to measure it. 

Attainable – Want to drop 50 lbs in 6 weeks?  Think again. That’s the kind of goal that sends you right to the pantry to wallow in a bag of Cheetos. It’s not attainable so you’ve set yourself up for a not-so-fun failure loop

Relevant – Is there a reason you want to lose weight?  Do you even have any weight to lose? What purpose does it serve in your life? If you don’t have a relevant reason for setting the goal, will you be motivated to attain it? Or feel good about it when you do? It’s also important to make sure goals align with your core values.

Time-based – Goals with an infinite timeline are much less likely to be accomplished. A goal without a deadline is breeding ground for excuses. Having a timeline helps you prioritize the goal, as well as reassess how attainable it is. Timelines can be a great motivator too. Losing 10 lbs by vacation is much more motivating than just losing 10 lbs. 

Don’t forget to Gamify Your Goals for Motivation

Once you start setting and achieving your goals in a SMART way, you’ll be on your way to a growth mindset. You can make it even better by gamifying your goals and giving yourself rewards when you reach your milestones.  When you do this, the reward center in your brain gives you the dopamine hits that motivate you to keep going! 

For example, I have my long, mid and short term goals I’m constantly working off of. I review my long and mid every Monday, and then customize my prioritized to-do list based on these. I set goals for each week, and when I meet them, I’ll give myself a reward such as taking Friday off to hang with kids or play golf, treat myself to a massage, or order from my favorite Sushi restaurant (too expensive for regular thing, but that spider roll tastes so much better when I know I’ve earned it).  

These short term goals give me just enough dopamine hits to want to keep chasing that carrot that seems so far off.

It happened again. You worked your tail off to reach an important career goal. You set goals, stayed ahead of deadlines and were one step ahead of every potential problem. Sure, you had to drive your team more than you’d like but it was all about to be worth it in the end.

Then you get the email. A pivotal team member has her dog’s groomer’s cousin’s grandmother’s funeral and has to miss work…. Again. Your project is DOA. As the Pac-Man game would so ruthlessly flash on the screen in my youth with no remorse or empathy, “Game Over.”

One of the millionaire success habits I learned early on as the CEO of Doorstep Delivery is to constantly make the changes needed to have the right team in place. A toxic team member can literally make or break your business. The problem is, even CEOs with millionaire success habits are human and also don’t like to flash someone the “Game Over” cue by firing them when they’re not delivering (pun intended).

This is where checking your goals vs habits comes in handy. You know what you want, and you know how to get it, but you make excuses for a poor performer and subconsciously enable their victim mentality because you don’t want to do the heavy lifting of firing an employee.

The truth is, though, sabotage from your team can affect every single one of your five cores. Have you ever had a team you can’t rely on so you couldn’t possibly take a vacation? That’s a hit to your emotional core. Who can spend time playing basketball when they’ve got to pick up the slack for Debbie in accounting who hasn’t sent out an invoice in 6 months? Now you’re falling short on your physical health core. Not to mention the stress and frustration chomping away at your mindset – especially when your relationship core is under stress because you haven’t quit working before 9pm in weeks.

 

The Millionaire Success Habit that will Change Your Life

 

A toxic team member is a deal-breaker for me. I can spot one a mile away and while I don’t relish the conversation that follows, I don’t hesitate to get them off the bus for the good of myself, the rest of my team, and all of the people in our lives that the situation affects.

Another crucial success habit is to take action the second you know a problem is attacking your cores. I consider finding and recruiting the right team a high priority in my job. My team members are either contributing to the success of the team, or they’re standing in the way of it. And when you look at it that way, it’s pretty easy to tell who fits in which category. When I have the right team in place, the payoff is amazing for everyone on the team, including myself.

I no longer dread the recruiting process or make excuses for bad apples just so I don’t have to go through the process of finding someone new. I’m always looking out for talent, passion and dedication and when I find it, I jump on it.

Below are some good habits I’ve tied into my success system for ensuring I’ve always got the right people ON the bus knowing what they need to do, and the sabotaging ones OFF the bus so as not to kill the team momentum.

 

Four Step System To Ensure Your Team Is Producing Maximum Momentum

 

  1. Document Your Processes – You won’t dread having to hire and train new people if you’ve got a documented system in place to onboard employees. The more detailed, the better. Create step-by-step instructions for each position and keep them updated.
  2. Automate – We use Asana on my team, which is a free project management tool. We have an onboarding project template all set up to walk people through basic training, signing documents, and getting to know our programs and systems.
  3. Keep an updated job description – Make sure to have clear requirements for the position and keep it updated as you learn what skills and personality traits work in each position (and which ones don’t).

You’ve Got All the Power. Just Do What The Bee Gees Did, Then Didn’t, Then Did again.

Aww Sooky Sooky. Just finished watching the Bee Gees HBO documentary and let me tell you, I’m diggin what they were throwin down. It was out of sight, totally groovy man.

 

My 70s slang aside, I am so glad I finally watched it and I highly recommend it not only for the sheer thrill of being transported back to the disco era in glorious fashion, but maybe you’ll learn a thing or two about yourself as you watch with the help of this article.

Here’s the skinny. If I’m dating myself by assuming you know who the Bee Gees are, here’s all you need to know about the brothers:

The Momentum Ride of a Lifetime

Their journey was a true nerve testing roller-coaster – not to be confused with the hit song “Love Rollercoaster” from that same era. The Gibb boys followed in the footsteps of their idols, the Beatles, coming out of England to take the world by storm in their teens, but then they became nearly irrelevant, only to shoot to mega stardom years later in 1977 with the soundtrack from the movie “Saturday Night Fever” – solidifying their status as the kings of disco. Something that would later come to bite them in their silky gold pants suits (but I’ll leave out the spoilers).

 

Those Gibb brothers experienced as big a momentum ride as a human can take. Soaring up, up up into the big, bold, beautiful sky, then falling down, down, down back to earth. Then up, up up … well, you get the idea. And throughout the documentary it became crystal clear what failure habits led to their initial demise (hint one of them rhymes with plugs), and what success habits allowed them to stage their epic comeback.

 
Perception Is As Perception Does
The very first scene in the documentary starts with a wide shot of a stunning Miami mega-compound slowly panning towards the silhouette of a sullen figure. Enter the voiceover “I am beginning to recognize the fact that nothing is true, It’s all down to perception.” Barry Gibb, the oldest and arguably most popular Bee Gee who was able to hit those legendary high notes (masterfully imitated by Jimmy Fallon in this Saturday Night Live Sketch), is revealed. I know I’m in for a good one.

Let that sink in for a groovy sec. This one, my friends, is the difference between living a happy, prosperous, soul-filled life or … a pretty crappy one.

 

Without giving away too many spoilers, as we move through the history of these seemingly lucky, then cursed, then lucky again brothers’ lives, it becomes crystal clear what Barry meant. All that fame, money, and power and this poor guy hardly enjoyed any of it.

The Tale Of Two Mindsets

Why did he suffer instead of bask in the glow of what should have been one of the best lives anyone has ever lived (I mean look at that hair)? He was consumed with a fixed-victim mindset that had him convinced that he was cursed, the world was out to get him, and there was nothing he could do about it. His entire reality was being seen through this lens which crushingly skewed every single moment he had during that time.

 

It’s only now that he realizes what life might have looked like through a growth-owner’s eyes. That higher self we all have the opportunity to tap into and tell ourselves:

“Listen up and listen good. I know I’ve got everything within me to kick ass and take names, I’m going to fail forward learning and growing every step of the way, and obstacles are temporary roadblocks waiting for solutions. Fear, meh, I’ll give it the finger because I know it’s merely an opportunity to help me become the bigger, better, faster, stronger, version of myself.”

Do You Have A Fixed-Victim Or A Growth-Owner Mindset?

What lens are you looking through life with and how has that lens affected where you currently stand today? Where you live, what you do for a living, what direction and with how much velocity you’re headed there with?

 

Which mindset do you think will create positive momentum moving forward? Which will momentify your life so that rather than constantly searching for happiness, happiness gravitates toward you like a moth to a flame – or a Bee Gee to a sequins pant suit.

Learn from Barry, the last remaining Bee Gee (shoot, I did it again, I’m terrible with spoilers) who wishes he could do it all over again. Someone who, on the surface would have been the envy of anyone, but who’s mindset framed that period of his life in mostly misery and pain.

How To Get Your Perception To Make 2021 Your B!#@h

Sadly, the tale of Barry Gibb and the rest of the Bee Gees is not uncommon for celebrities. In fact, they are much more likely to suffer the type of existence that makes for a great HBO documentary, or my fav from back in the day, “VH1’s Behind The Music.” So what shot do little ol’ you have?

 

Ironically, a better one.

 

You don’t have the enormous distractions and temptations that come with having an angel’s voice, golden locks, and a furry chest. So let’s get to work.

 

There are several life-hacks I have to trick your dog-brain into working FOR instead of against you, and they all revolve around your habits. Your habits don’t care if they’re good or bad, working for or against you – in the end they’re going to compound and form who you are either way.

 

The more action you take based on what a growth-owner would do, the more you’ll slowly start to feel and experience the life you’re fully capable of having.

 

A top one of these actions is to write down a list of your top 3 fears. I’m serious, you can’t just think of them. Writing has a magical effect on making things real so that we have to pay attention to them.

 

Next, make a commitment to yourself in the next week to tackle one of these fears head on NO MATTER WHAT. Start small, but keep your promise to yourself and you’ll be on your way to stepping out of your “failure loop” and into your “success loop.” Growth-owner launch initiated!
